One of the largest telecommunications companies in Austria begins to accept payments in cryptocurrencies. Enterprise A1 is already testing cryptocurrency payments at multiple points of sale. Initially, the company intends to implement support for Dash, Ethereum, Litecoin, Stellar and XRP. As part of the pilot program, Alipay and WeChat Pay will also be added to existing payment methods by the end of August.
“Cash is a model that has stopped its development. During the pilot operations at A1 branches, we will test the level of demand and adoption of digital currency in Austria”, — said Markus Schreiber, Head of A1 Business Promotion.
At the first stage, cryptocurrency transactions are available in seven service offices. The company will partner with several banking providers to avoid the risks associated with the high volatility of digital money.
A1 claims that the new payment options are targeted not only to local residents, but also to tourists.
In May, it became known that AT&T, the American multinational telecommunications conglomerate, would start accepting payments in bitcoins.
